A Promise to Myself

21kl.jpg

Running

Into the cold.

Waiting on a soul to rescue me,

See me,

Find me.

Unaware of the fact that I was staring at myself from across the way,

Whispering words on the wind.

Promises of a better land.

If I’d only listen.

The walking man is green,

And I’m all alone,

On a misty street,

Wiping tears from my eyes.

Swaying as I promise to myself,

That after today,

I’ll be the one to walk across double yellow lines,

Hold my own hand on late night drives,

Drop down to my knees in gratitude

For all that I have,

And then stand up,

And walk back into the world that I have made for myself.

Chaos and all,

Crooning in a bar somewhere.
