The World Of Actress Lizzy Greene

PR2.jpg

Welcome to a peek into the world of Lizzy Greene. Originally from Dallas, Texas Lizzy got her start as the star of Nickelodeon’s ‘Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, & Dawn’. Now she is moving on to more mature projects and breaking out of the children's television sphere. You can currently catch her on ABC’s ‘A Million Little Things’ in her role as Sophie Dixon. The series shows how the characters react to the death of someone close to them - showing how tragedy can spur action. Lizzy is also currently working with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention to encourage people to reach out and support each other. During the current state of the world, that couldn’t be a more important message to share. Get to know Lizzy better by reading all about her views on the transition from kids comedy to adult drama, authenticity, and how she makes the world a better place.

What does authenticity mean to you?

It means to be your truest self, and not change your thoughts or emotions for other people.

Where in the world are you happiest?

Skateboarding in the summertime in my hometown of Dallas, especially during the sunset. It's so relaxing and freeing; definitely my favorite pass time.

Do you relate to your character Sophie on ABC’s ‘A Million Little Things’?

I truly like her demeanor; she is so confident and unapologetically herself. She is kind, super strong, and very protective of her family and friends, which is my favorite quality of hers. I relate to her in many ways, such as her witty remarks, but I also really relate to her stubbornness, it's not my best similarity. LOL!

How do you make the world a better place?

I'm really passionate about animal rights. Since a young age, I've always wanted to be a Veterinarian (still do!) and just help neglected animals in any way possible. I especially love the ASPCA and its mission and would love to start a rescue foundation for abused animals one day. It’s definitely one of my biggest goals!

How have you navigated being in the spotlight at such a young age?

Surround yourself with TRUE FRIENDS! Keep your friends you had before the spotlight because they are going to be the most loyal and keep you the most grounded. I've been super lucky to have a great team of people around me over the years. You have to grow up fairly quickly in the business because of the high demand high-stress schedule, and by starting with a good support group, you're able to gain much bigger respect for your work.

How do you take care of your mental health?

I love to work out because I find it so rewarding in the physical and mental aspects. I've been running since I was 12, and don't plan on ever stopping. It’s like therapy because it helps calm me down, creates better focus, and inspires all kinds of new ideas.

The best and hardest part of your job?

Best, being able to work with and meet new friends all the time. Worst, barely getting any sleep. LOL.

What does influence mean to you?

To influence someone positively, and inspire them to be creative and kind.

How was it transitioning from working on a Nickelodeon show to working on an ABC drama?

It was different because there isn't any ‘transferring from kids comedy to adult drama’ handbook. I basically had to learn how to act again, starting by making everything much more subtle and real. I started this ‘acting book’ where I would write out every idea and note I had on my scenes. I also created ‘subtext’ stories and memories for my character, so that I could justify her actions or choices in an effort to make them more believable. It’s been a great switch though because I feel I've learned more about acting in these 2 years than in my whole life.

What’s next?

I've been working on music lately! I've written 3 songs with one of the Music Producers from AMLT, and plan on releasing them this summer. I'm super excited because I got my start as an Actress by singing, so it's really nostalgic to come back to my roots. I can't wait for people to hear!
