I first heard Glory Daze at Hotel Cafe while there to support a friend and was immediately intrigued (this seems to be how I find most of my new music). With a clean aesthetic, funny and kind demeanor, refreshingly raw voice , and heart-breaking lyrics she is an artist that definitely is worth checking out. Glory Daze and I met up and went on a Polaroid adventure surrounded by wildflowers and at her home in Hollywood California. After shooting with her for a few hours I can honestly say that there is nothing inauthentic about her. She is un-apologetically herself which happens to be quite a lovely, slightly somber, Libra soul who is overwhelmed by the beauty of the world around her. I realized while we where shooting that we needed a third artist for the spotlight series and that she would be a perfect addition. Who are you?
I’m a motherfuckin’ California cowboy, daydreaming night owl, who makes good songs, and bad decisions.

Why music?
Songwriting makes me feel high and it’s free so it’s a no brainer. I grew up reading a LOT of books. I love stories, I love immortalizing moments in a song, and I love figuring out just the right combination words and melody to describe a feeling.

What does authenticity mean to you?

I think less is more, stripping away all the things we do to fit in or fill others’ expectations and showing up as your weird, wild self. With confidence. That part is crucial.

Favorite lyric of your own?
“The girls are all dressed in October clothes
Tights under dresses and petticoats Come Halloween we’ll be sneaking ‘round disguised in the streets Sugar in our teeth honey kiss my mouth...”
Quote that changed your life?
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.”

Where in the world are you happiest?
On the highway with the windows down. On stage about three songs into a show. Also underwater, it's so peaceful. I wish I could hold my breath forever.

 Favorite smell?

4am under streetlights.

What’s something people wouldn’t assume about you?
I absolutely love country music. It's 90% of what I listen to.

What does vulnerability mean to you?

Vulnerability is a combination of deep self awareness and fearless honesty. Or at least honesty in spite of the fear of being misunderstood. In my experience, moments of vulnerability more often than not lead to a deeper understanding of ourselves and others but you have to take that uncomfortable leap of faith to get to the good stuff.
