Artist Spotlight - Holland Belle

Betawave records brought Holland Belle onto our radar and I am so glad they did. We met for the first time on the day of our first spotlight series with Betawave at CRUX in Atwater Village. Holland brings sincere, kind, relaxed energy into the room just by entering it without so much as singing a note. Once she does start playing her alluring, well trained, darkly melodic voice creates an atmosphere within the room that makes you want to simply soak it all in. Her vintage guitar adds a richness and depth to her acoustic set that I personally adored. Watching her perform has an almost religious flavor where the music seems to move in and out of her with ease and grace. Why music?

It was my first passion, and it’s still the greatest of my life. Music was the tool that led me though the darkest moments, and instrument that celebrated the brightest.

What does being an artist mean to you?

Working hard, staying open, listening.

What does authenticity mean to you?

Having the sincere gift of finding out who you are. Because that is a gift. When you know who you are, it is easy to be authentic, because every action comes from the heart.

Deep inside my own heart.

Telling the truth.
