Who are you?

My name is Beck Pete. I am an artist through and through. I believe in stories. I make Indie-Pop music but what the hell is that now, anyway? Guess you’ll have to listen to find out.

Why music?

Music was my first outlet to explore the question “who am I?” I continue to ask that question, process through writing sounds, and find out more and more.

What does authenticity mean to you?

I talk about authenticity a lot. I truly feel that the “it” factor of an artist is 90% authenticity. When someone is being true to themselves it’s magic, and it’s palpable.

Outside of music what are you passionate about?

More than running when I don’t talk myself out of it, learning about the human brain, observing and feeling connection, and Pellegrino in the can, I am passionate about spreading the word about the importance of vulnerability, how “strength” is often seen as the opposite, and how I truly feel that the two can only exist in tandem. We are encouraged to be strong. I’m excited to relay the message that sometimes that means being soft, if soft is what’s most honest. It bleeds into everything that I do, and inspires my music, but also is completely separate. I kind of feel that way with everything now… it’s all just connected somehow.

Favorite book?

The Artist’s Way. It brings the walls down.

What does vulnerability mean to you?

I guess I answered that in the above question about passion. Haha. Oops. But a short answer? Vulnerability is my biggest strength. Vulnerability is beauty. Vulnerability is everything.

Where in the world are you happiest?

I am the happiest on stage. That stage could be anywhere in the world. I feel so fortunate that I feel so at home there, meaning that I will continue to find home wherever I travel.

Where do you find inspiration?

I am inspired by moments and people that make me feel a little extra alive.

Favorite lyric of your own?

My favorite set of lyrics is from my song “Me, Denial & Space” that I will be releasing next year.

“How does it feel to watch from your grave?

Will you get tired of counting the times we repeat mistakes?”

What’s next?

I’ve been working on so much new music that will be a part of a project to be released in 2020. In the immediate future though, I will be releasing so many things to celebrate and showcase the “Muse” EP in a different light and help everyone get to know me a little better. I can’t wait to share.
