Fletcher In Berlin

Fletcher in Berlin was something wild!

Some might know that Berlin is known for how it parties and the crowd at Fletcher’s show at KesselHaus did not let this reputation down. The sold out show had magnetic and ecstatic energy from the floor all the way to the rafters. Compared to her last performance in Berlin to this one, the crowd had grown exponentially!

This after all is Fletcher’s first Europe tour since the success of “The Sex Tapes”. The artist has found a space all her own in creating narrative and emotive break up anthems that do not shy away from being very obviously gay.

For queer people everywhere - it is an important niche for them to feel seen and to have break up songs from the perspective of someone with their same point of view and experiences in love. Her honest lyrics, intimate yet powerful vocals, and intuitive demeanor is a perfect mix to create a relatable artist who has a cult-like following of fans.

Fletcher herself held up her end of the bargain - putting on a show that would be a shame to miss! Her vocal performance could have been directly off the recording as she danced through multi colored lights with her hair flying behind her. She took time to deliver speeches to remind everyone of the safe space they were in, to interact with fan signs, and even to sign some boobs… Obviously an important activity.

Her stage presence had the whole room enraptured and she carried the crowd from the start all the way to her final note. Her band and the interactions she had with them was a performance in and of itself - connecting the energy of the whole stage into one powerful force. Sometimes you see a performance and can simply tell it may just be the place where the artist feels the most at home, shining, and confident in their place in the world. Fletcher is one of those artists.

She truly gave it all and after the show posted an ice pack on her ankle. Stating she had somehow having injured herself in her mission to give the best show possible and to give back the energy the crowd was so willingly handing her. Overall it was a stellar night full of the queer energy needed - especially on as chance would have it - Lesbian Visibility Day.

Fletcher’s single “Her Body Is Bible” is also worth while of a quick mention! The track is the lesbian anthem needed for those summer loves, flings, and infatuations. It is also a proclamation of women loving women in a time where being loud and authentic has never been more important. The powerful lyrics perfectly describe the religious experience that another person can seem to be. It is the perfect song for a certain type of walk home, getting ready to go out, or pretty much anytime.

Her newest single “Becky’s so hot” is the epitome of a lesbian break up track, its success has been truly wild after the queer community caught wind of the drama behind it. Fletcher perfectly wraps up the mess that is queer dating when you are over your ex but find yourself a little too into their newest love affair. It is a bold track that holds no punches with a provocative tone throughout.

Fletcher is a force to be reckoned with and I have a feeling it’s just now getting started. Her live show is definitely one for the books and should not be missed if it can be helped.
