Tainted Love

Your breath lingers on my skin like cigarette smoke,
“I love you,”
I cling onto every empty word, sucking it up like honey off your fingers,
I’m so conflicted,
I’m so addicted,
And I still want more.
You are my home and my hurricane,
Your words planted a garden in my soul
You breathed life into my lungs
But I didn’t realize it was cigarette smoke, my darling,
And it’s killing me, but I’m so hooked,
Please don’t ever stop.
